A kukorica és a vágósertés felvásárlási árának és mennyiségének ciklikussága AgEcon
Hegedusne Baranyai, Nora.
A vizsgálatok a rendszerváltozást követő időszakra vonatkozó piaci folyamatok – árak, felvásárolt mennyiségek – havi változásainak elemzésére irányultak. A ciklikus periódusok hossza 3-4 évre tehető. A vágósertésnél szintén öt ciklus rajzolódott ki a vizsgált időszakban. A hullámok hossza változó volt. A sertésáraknál a leghosszabbnak az utolsó előtti tekinthető, a maga három és fél évével. Vizsgálat tárgyát képezte a vonatkozó tényezők sztochasztikus...

Ability of non-linear mixed models to predict growth in laying hens R. Bras. Zootec.
Galeano-Vasco,Luis Fernando; Cerón-Muñoz,Mario Fernando; Narváez-Solarte,William.
In this study, the Von Bertalanffy, Richards, Gompertz, Brody, and Logistics non-linear mixed regression models were compared for their ability to estimate the growth curve in commercial laying hens. Data were obtained from 100 Lohmann LSL layers. The animals were identified and then weighed weekly from day 20 after hatch until they were 553 days of age. All the nonlinear models used were transformed into mixed models by the inclusion of random parameters. Accuracy of the models was determined by the Akaike and Bayesian information criteria (AIC and BIC, respectively), and the correlation values. According to AIC, BIC, and correlation values, the best fit for modeling the growth curve of the birds was obtained with Gompertz, followed by Richards, and then...

Adjusting prices for volume: a test of the Hotelling valuation principle AgEcon
Berck, Peter.
This paper tests the hypothesis that the net of extraction cost price of a natural resource does not change with volume. The hypothesis is shown to he a consequence of Hotelling’s theory. The tests are performed on equations estimated by a nonparametric regression (ACE), and we show that the usual least squares estimation techniques are not general enough to successfully perform the test. The test rejects the pure form of the Hotelling theory and shows that it is necessary to adjust sale prices for volume sold.

Analysis of Factors Influencing Development of Resource-saving and Environment-friendly Agriculture in China AgEcon
Gao, Wen; Luo, Min.
By selecting the data from 1989 to 2009 in China, we conduct regression analysis on the total out value of agriculture, the usage amount of chemical fertilizer, total power of agricultural machinery, effective irrigation area, and the damage area. The results show that the usage amount of chemical fertilizer and the damage area, the great obstacle to the construction of resource-saving and environment-friendly agriculture, have significant impact on the output value of agriculture; total power of agricultural machinery and effective irrigation area have insignificant impact on the output value of agriculture. Based on these, the suggestions for promoting the development of resource-saving and environment-friendly agriculture are put forward as follows:...

Description of blackberry fruit growth by nonlinear regression models Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Silva,Édipo Menezes da; Tadeu,Maraísa Hellen; Silva,Victor Ferreira da; Pio,Rafael; Fernandes,Tales Jesus; Muniz,Joel Augusto.
Abstract Blackberry is a small fruit with several properties beneficial to human health and its cultivation is an alternative for small producers due to its fast and high financial return. Studying the growth of fruits over time is extremely important to understand their development, helping in the most appropriate crop management, avoiding post-harvest losses, which is one of the aggravating factors of blackberry cultivation, being a short shelf life fruit. Thus, growth curves are highlighted in this type of study and modeling through statistical models helps understanding how such growth occurs. Data from this study were obtained from an experiment conducted at the Federal University of Lavras in 2015. The aim of this study was to adjust nonlinear,...

Determinants of Trust between Buyers and Suppliers in Agribusiness: Empirical Evidence from the German Pork Sector AgEcon
Schulze, Birgit; Spiller, Achim.
There are several hints that there is lack of trust in the relationships between farmers and processors in the meat industry. To generate instruments of trust management, a survey is conducted in the German pork chain measuring the level of trust perceived by farmers as well as the antecedents of trust. Overall satisfaction, the perceived neutrality of the carcass grading system, fairness and farmer orientation are the most import factors explaining trust.

Determination of Drilling Rate Index Based on Rock Strength Using Regression Analysis Anais da ABC (AABC)
YENICE,HAYATI.
Abstract: Drillability is influenced by many factors, including machine parameters and rock properties. The main machine parameters for drilling include rotational speed, thrust force, torque and flush pressure. The specific rock characteristics that affect penetration rate comprise uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), tensile strength, Young’s modulus, hardness and brittleness. In this study, drilling rate index (DRI) is attempted to predict based on UCS and Brazilian tensile strength (BTS) of rocks. Simple and multiple regression analyses have been carried out to determine the best measure of the relation between DRI and two geomechanical properties. The DRI value is strongly related to the uniaxial compressive strength and indirect tensile strength....

Evaluation of the critical points of the most adequate nonlinear model in adjusting growth data of ‘green dwarf’ coconut fruits Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Silva,Édipo Menezes da; Fruhauf,Ariana Campos; Silva,Edilson Marcelino; Muniz,Joel Augusto; Fernandes,Tales Jesus; Silva,Victor Ferreira da.
Abstract ‘Green Dwarf’ coconut is a fruit of great economic interest, since all its components are used, in addition to water, its main component. It is a culture of humid tropics, widely produced in northeastern Brazil, being an important income source for the region. The phenology study of this type of fruit is extremely important, but there are few studies in literature. Regression models, especially nonlinear growth models, can be of great value to understand how fruit growth behaves. The scarcity of works of this nature may be linked to some difficulties in estimating parameters of nonlinear models, such as assigning initial values to the itterative process. Overcoming this difficulty, for regression analysis, linear or not, several steps need to be...

Global patterns of aboveground carbon stock and sequestration in mangroves Anais da ABC (AABC)
ESTRADA,GUSTAVO C.D.; SOARES,MÁRIO L.G..
ABSTRACT In order to contribute to understand the factors that control the provisioning of the ecosystem service of carbon storage by mangroves, data on carbon stock and sequestration in the aboveground biomass (AGB) from 73 articles were averaged and tested for the dependence on latitude, climatic parameters, physiographic types and age. Global means of carbon stock (78.0 ± 64.5 tC.ha-1) and sequestration (2.9 ± 2.2 tC.ha-1.yr-1) showed that mangroves are among the forest ecosystems with greater capacity of carbon storage in AGB per area. On the global scale, carbon stock increases toward the equator (R²=0.22) and is dependent on 13 climatic parameters, which can be integrated in the following predictive equation: Carbon Stock in AGB = -16.342 + (8.341 x...
